Why I Left New York City

I lived in New York for two years after graduating from college. My friend and I wanted to pursue entrepreneurship, and we figured moving to New York would help us gain the connections we needed to become successful.
We didn’t need to move to make connections. We simply needed to get online, but that’s neither here nor there.
I originally wanted to move to Paris after college, but I thought it would be easier to get a job in New York than in France.
I didn’t like the idea of moving to New York at first. I thought of New York City as being an overcrowded city with dirty streets.
So, we quit our jobs and bought a one-way ticket to New York. I lived in Bushwick, Brooklyn, for six months and slept on my cousin’s couch.
I barely had the proper winter gear. Eventually, I did get a Parka. Even though the first six months were hard, I don’t have any regrets.
Over time, I did love New York. I loved the freedom I had. I loved that I had made friends and had an apartment that I shared with two other roommates.
I loved the feeling of being independent, of getting on the Subway and going wherever I wanted to go. I loved trying new brunch spots and going to Prospect Park and Central Park.
There was so much to discover, and every day felt like an adventure.
However, things started to change after being there for two years. I wanted a new job, and I started to feel like I wasn’t growing.
I felt completely lost, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted next out of life. I eventually left New York and moved back to Florida. After that, there was a long hiatus that consisted of healing and starting over.
I’m actually happy my chapter in New York came to an end. I’m so happy to be back in Florida. I want to focus on my future, and life has different seasons, and I’m grateful for the season I’m in now.
I don’t need to live in New York to be a successful entrepreneur. I have everything I need to grow personally and professionally right where I am.
When I first moved to New York, I loved it. I couldn’t imagine leaving. Now, I couldn’t ever imagine living there again.
I’m so happy I left. I’ve had to start over, which has been really hard, but I’ve been able to rebuild stronger and wiser.
I’m ready for what my future holds in Florida, which for me is marriage and children.
I couldn’t envision myself raising my children in New York. I envision myself raising my children in a place where it’s sunny year-round, a place where I can take my kids to the park and take them out for ice cream, and we don’t need to wait until the summer time to be outdoors.
I needed to leave my hometown to grow. Leaving Florida allowed me to grow so much.
I’m absolutely so grateful for the time I spent in New York. I had so many fun experiences, and it was such a fun time in my life.
I’m grateful that I get to continue to grow from a new and healthier perspective. This time, I’m pursuing my dreams without feeling the need to change cities.
I can bloom right where I’m planted.
Life teaches us so many lessons along the way. I’m grateful for the wisdom I have now. I’m able to live my life from a much more grounded place. My life is centered on God. I trust in God fully, and I live my life completely devoted to him.
I don’t look back on the past with regret or with a longing to live in New York again. Instead, I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned and apply it to my life right now.
Life really does get better as you go along. At least, that has been the truth for me. Each day, I continue to get better and better.
I don’t want to go back to the past. I want to continue to make the most of the moment right now. I feel more confident and secure in myself than ever before.
I’m looking forward to making new memories and experiencing new things. I’m focused on micro-habits and creating positive momentum.
Most importantly, I’m looking forward to taking it day by day and focusing on my health and taking care of myself.
I’m focused on making my life the best it can ever be. I know that my future is bright and I’m excited for all my life in Florida has to offer.
My life in Florida is filled with slow moments, lots of fresh air, and Vitamin D.
I’m excited to settle down and start a family right here in Florida.
