How to Stop Living a Fear Based Life

Well for starters, not living in fear means living a God first life. I’m a very religious person and my faith in God is at the center of my life. Without God, I’m certain I wouldn’t be alive.

Everyone handles life differently. Life comes at you fast at times and it can be hard to manage. I’ve definitely had my fair share of ups and downs and I’m a better woman because of it.

Low moments teach us so much about ourselves.

Fear can be a difficult emotion because it stops us in our tracks. We can feel frozen by fear.

I know that feeling very well because I would overthink things and find myself in a downward spiral.

Fear isn’t always an easy emotion to overcome. Some emotions can be challenging to feel. Emotions such as grief, sadness, depression and anger can all be really difficult to process.

Human beings have to learn to trust God. If your faith is in your own strength, your own limitations will teach you that you are not a limitless being.

Only a supreme being can handle it all. We don’t have supernatural strength and because of that, if we take on too much at one time, we can find ourselves overwhelmed.

Fear can be a crippling emotion. In order to stop living a fear-based life you have to be courageous. This means feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

Our emotions can teach us a lot if we are willing to be patient. Patience is key when it comes to overcoming fear.

I think the most important thing to ask ourselves is what is it that we are afraid of?

Fear can also be a useful emotion.

Most people think it’s easy to play it safe but playing it safe isn’t actually safe. Staying at a job that you don’t really enjoy thinking it’s the safe option can be detrimental to your well-being.

It can be financially detrimental. Maybe you’re at a job where you’re underpaid and you think staying is the safe option.

It’s really not. The cost of living rises each year and if you’re being underpaid, how will you be able to keep up with the rising cost of living?

Financial stress can be one of the worst forms of stress.

Let’s say you’re at a job that you find unfulfilling, but it pays well, very well. Staying at a job like this isn’t the safe option either. You could be laid off.

The only security you will ever truly have, is the security you receive from trusting in God.

Thinking that job security exists is one of the biggest traps you can fall into.

Following your passions and pouring into your creative outlets might seem like a risky option and in a lot of ways it is but staying at a job where you aren’t fulfilled can cost you so much more than taking the risk and pursuing entrepreneurship.

When you look back at your life will you have regret that you never poured into the life you actually wanted?

What’s a greater risk? Failing at entrepreneurship or looking back on your life and living with the regret that you never pursued the life that you actually want to live?

Also, what exactly is failure?

If you fail at entrepreneurship maybe you learn something new about yourself. Maybe you learn some new skills.

Even if you’ve failed at something there’s always the possibility to start again. This time from a much wiser position. Fear is only as big as we make it and it only has the power we give it.

It’s important to recognize when we are letting fear run the show when it doesn’t need to.

Our lives can be transformed when we surrender to God. Fear doesn’t have the power to control us when we put God first.

Living a Christ centered life allows us to have eternal peace. Not just on Earth but also in heaven. The next time you allow fear to control you, stop and pray. Ask God to change your life and he will.

His mercy is sufficient. His grace is enough. God will pour out so many blessings if we only believe.

God cares deeply for us.

Until next time,

Sharlene Moulton
